Core elements of effective teaching
The UW Faculty Code identifies five “core elements” as the basic building blocks of an effective teaching practice. Grounded in a significant body of research, the core elements help instructors create learning environments that are: aligned, inclusive and equitable, active and engaged, growth-oriented, and relevant.
Teaching@UW offers a host of resources designed to help you learn about and integrate each element into your teaching practice.

“I loved that the AI+Teaching course is grounded in learning theory and had assignments I can (and will!) readily apply to the class I’m teaching.”
